Seven inch vinyl pressing. Grolar Bears are a unique and ambitious symphonic funk band. They take a different approach from singer-focused neo-soul bands, focusing instead on tightly orchestrated performances and production reminiscent of the work of Quincy Jones and David Axelrod. 'Midnight Stew' is a dramatic strutter, steeped in funk history, backed with an instrumental version on the B-side. It makes one want to walk up a crowded sidewalk, hands in pockets staring straight ahead with an intent gaze and a subtle smile.
